Slick Rick used to get his kicks

by writing his name

on the subway walls.

 

Whenever he’d see

some public property

it was fair game for him to

write his name.

 

Slick Rick knew all the tricks

and he never got busted,

was never trusted

with a paint can in his hand.

 

They thought they’d be cool and put him in an art school

but he saw what they were doin’,

tryin’ to ruin his style.

 

Slick Rick became a derelict

and now he’s drinking wine

down around 8th and Vine.

 

But every now and then,

he comes back again.

Whenever he gets the urge

he goes out and writes his words.

 

Slick Rick split quick

but things are gonna be alright,

his little brother learned to write

with a paint can in his hand.
