It wasn't all that long ago
 when I last saw your smile.
 So it came as some surprise to hear you'd gone.
 I should have seen it coming,
 They'd been talking for a while
 still I hoped the news I heard was wrong.

  We didn't have a lot in common
 but we knew each other pretty well.
 Two different lives that often crossed
  but not for very long.
 You’d always stop what you were doing
 when I came around
  and would ask me what I had going on.
