We all know the cost of being free.

 

You’re racing through your life  

and never once believing

you were anything but right.

And using that as an excuse for your cold heart.

 

Now you’re laughing in the face of disappointment

and disregarding any help offered from someone else.

You say you’re waiting for your royal appointment.

I think it’s more you’ve lost control of yourself.

 

Standing all alone

and quickly pointing out

that you made it on your own.

As if that’s proof of your great strength.

 

Defining words like love

as pretty, petty games

that you’ve put yourself above

Why, I heard you quit believing in God because you were too damn proud to pray.

 

Well, laugh on in the face of disappointment.

Go ahead and be at war with the world, if that’s what you like.

We all look much better after our royal appointments

but some of us just feel better after the fight.

 

 That’s right some of us just feel better after the fight.
